Calpe, close to Benidorm!

Calpe is a nice little town with a modern harbour. This special place is instantly recognised by the mighty, huge rock which rises 332 meters out of the Mediterranean Sea.

This has stood guard over the town and witnessed its transformation from sleepy little fishing village into a beautiful tourist attraction.

Calpe is best known for its fine sandy beaches and great value fish restaurants. There are two stunning beaches to choose from, one either side of the mighty rock. Both beaches have beautiful long promenades and a great selection of bars.  The cozy city centre of Calpe consists of old streets with white houses, numerous shops and terraces.

Also in the evening there is plenty to see, there are many nice bars and nightclubs.  The upper part of the place, with old, crooked streets has a beautiful, historic character. Here you will find the old Torreó de Peca; a tower that remains of the city walls, a Gothic church and the old town hall. It’s absolutely worthwile to walk around here.

Ruins from the Roman period, including bathing complex ‘Banos de la Reina, located on the beach l’Arenal-Bol – brings back memories of the older days in Calpe. On the outskirts of this town is also a salt mine area; frequented by migratory birds.
